Awkward. It's quite the poplular word, really. But what is it? To be perfectly honest, I think the word is overused or misued a lot of the time. Here's the official definiton:
Awkward: (adj) causing difficulty; hard to handle or deal with
As a theatre student, I've been told many times that I don't know when things become awkward. I've now established that theatre kids just don't have an "awkward button". This device tells you when things become uncomfortable with the average person. We don't have one at all. I thin this mainly comes from the fact that our whole hobby (performing) involves being uncomfortable all the time. It's what theatre is all about. However, I can tell when things are awkward somtimes. If they're blatantly obvious. So let's name a couple of thing that are actually awkward. Like this picture.
That, my friends, is an awkward photo. Need I go into detail about why it is awkward? His finger is in her belly button. Her belly button. And their faces are just so awful. It's just awkward.
There can, however, be a 'good' awkward. This situation can happen when you like someone and you're just getting to know them. That can also be a very bad awkward.. I don't know. I can't tell which awkward is good and bad! I'm missing the awkward button! But I think I like awkward. It keeps things interesting. Plus, I don't think I could live my life sans awkwardness, so either way I'd have to learn to live with it.
Have an awesome and awkward day!
