Hey there! Here's the post about Coupons that I've been talking about! I find that they're a great tool for saving money that you should take advantage of. I thought it would be fun to share some of my tips and strategies with all of you lovelies. So here I go, I hope you find something useful in my rambles.
Set Up Your Coupon Binder
Seriously, if you don't have one of these then you won't be a successful couponer. They fullfill my longing for organization so well, it's great. I just bought a 1 inch binder and kind of decorated the front with a title page just cause I would so do something like that. You'll then need to buy some baseball card holder pages.. yeah, that's what we'll call them. They're clear pockets that are simply perfect for storing your coupons. I would suggest going to a craft store like Hobby Lobby to get them because I've found that WalMart doesn't carry them like.. ever. The last thing you need to complete your Coupon Binder is some dividers. I have 5 with the following labels: Health and Beauty Aids, Refrigerated, Boxed Items, Household Goods, and Miscellaneous. You can usually fit everything into these categories. Set this up and you'll be on your way!
Snatch Up the Good Deals
I'd suggest getting the Sunday Paper of course! There's usually a good amount of coupons in there every week. The Internet is also a lovely source for deals! I'll leave some good sites for coupons below. The only thing about coupons that I don't really like is the fact that I can go to Aldi and get the same thing cheaper than with the coupon. (Aldi is the cheap-o depot store we simply LOVE shopping at) In that situation I usually go ahead and buy the Aldi thing, but you could also wait for that item to go on sale, which will snatch you a great deal! You just have to be careful. Just because you have a coupon for it doesn't mean it's the best deal. That's probably the best piece of advice I could offer to you! Be sure to check off brands like Great Value from WalMart, they're usually cheaper.
Get Organized
Plan what coupons you'll use at the store before you go so that you're not frazzled while you're there. I usually stick the coupons I'll use in the front pocket of my binder. It also serves as a good checklist for what you need to get. It's also good to be familiar with your coupons so you're positive what you have coupons for. You don't want to be searching for a coupon that's not really there!
Check Expiration Dates
These'll get ya! Be sure to keep all of your coupons up to date. It's very annoying to get to the cashier and have your coupons denied because you didn't check the date for them. They expire faster than you think they do, so be sure to stock up on the things you have coupons for while you still have the deal! I've also found that a lot of coupons expire at the same time. That's awful, because then you're left without coupons since they all expired at the same time. Just keep your eye out for those Expiration Dates! They're sneaky.
